Biography for Scott Baxendale
Senior Consultant
Scott Baxendale joined Integrated Safety Support (ISS) after a wide variety of experiences within the Aviation Industry both in Australia and Internationally. Scott has provide specialist consulting services in a variety of industries including Oil & Gas, Transport / Logistics and Mining.
Scott was previously employed for nearly 30 years with the Qantas group. His initial training was as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, which lead to him managing Aircraft Engineers mainly in a 24/7 environment. This experience of balancing critical tasks involved in aircraft maintenance with time constraints of the aircraft fleet has given him an excellent understanding of human factors and operational performance and safety.
In 2004 Scott was based in Toulouse, France with Airbus. His responsibilities included quality and compliance inspections of Qantas A330, A380 & Jetstar A320 aircraft during all manufacturing stages throughout France and Europe more widely. He liaised with Airbus and vendors regarding quality, contractual and airworthiness issues during production and delivery whilst ensuring the Qantas / Airbus relationship was enriched. A shorter posting to Boeing in Seattle, USA on the B737 program preceded this.
Other relevant experience includes project managing the construction, fit-out and implementation of the new Airport Terminal in Adelaide for Qantas Engineering. He was the Aircraft Engineering representative on the Terminal Design Team with Adelaide Airport Limited involving the entire building and associated infrastructure.
Scott works with clients and provides practical, operationally-focussed guidance based on his years of experience working in and managing 24-hour operations. Safety benefits need to be tracked, and be achieved in balance with business and other needs. System implementations, and integration with existing systems, are a focus for Scott, particularly with respect to OHS, safety management, risk management, and system integrity/resilience.
